Critically Controlled Logistics Center

Grifols – Clayton / North Carolina

Project category: , ,

Project status:

ESI Group was selected to design and build an 83,500-square-foot extreme climate-controlled plasma storage center for Grifols Pharmaceuticals, located on their Clayton, NC campus. The facility is an Automated Storage and Retrieval System (AS/RS)—a rack-supported structure equipped with three AS/RS SR machines and standing 90 feet tall.

The temperature within this critically controlled space is maintained at -35°C, using a double-redundant R507 refrigeration system with nitrogen back-up for added reliability. This new plasma storage facility plays a vital role in supporting Grifols’ largest U.S. manufacturing site.

This project was awarded a Gold level honor through ABC’s Projects of Distinction Program.
