Project Awards

ESI Group is honored to be the recipient of multiple project awards for the design and construction of food facilities across the United States.  We thank our clients for giving us the opportunity to submit their facilities and our knowledgeable staff for their hard work to design, construct, and manage above the industry standards making projects eligible to submit for awards programs.  We are proud to have these accomplishments recognized and hope for continued success in the future.

For 25 years, the Wisconsin Chapter of Associated Builders and Contractor (ABC) Association hosts The Projects of Distinction.  Projects must meet predefined standards in terms of Safety, Scope, Project Value, References, and ABC member project involvement to be considered a qualified entry.  If project scores do not meet the standards for either silver or gold then a winner is not selected for that category.

Sustainability Awards

ESI Design Services, the design and engineering arm of ESI Group USA, is the recipient of Food Logistics, Top Green Providers Award.  ESI Design Services was selected based on the following criteria:

  • participation in EPA’s SmartWay; Carbon Disclosure Project; or other recognized sustainability program
  • LEED facility
  • use of solar panels, rainwater recapture, LED lighting retrofit or other measures that demonstrated a focus on sustainability as part of their company mission, rather than an after-thought
  • measurable results; independently audited; future sustainability goals
  • going beyond the industry standard for true environmental stewardship
  • website and/or application provided details on sustainability efforts/results

Innovation Awards

ESI worked along with Caito Foods to submit a new Fresh Kitchen Facility for ProFood World’s Manufacturing Innovator of the Year Award.  The Greenfield Facility sits on Caito’s existing campus for access to the fresh produce facility next door to maximum product quality and freshness.  The facility features a main tasting room that opens up to the R&D kitchen so that customers can interact directly with Caito’s chef.  There is also an observation deck for customers to view the processing and finishing of the foods products offered.  There are three entrances to the facility, one for the raw side, one for the cooked side, and a third for administrative staff and visitors.  Essentially this is two processing plants side by side under one roof.

Safety Awards

ESI Group has been a STEP award recipient each year an application was submitted.  The National Associated & Builders Contractor Association has adopted the Safety Training and Evaluation Process (STEP) program.  It was created in 1989 by the ABC National Environment, Health & Safety Committee to recognize ABC member companies with exceptional safety records.

The award is the industries only safety program that is nationally recognized by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). OSHA is the main federal agency charged with the enforcement of safety and health legislation.
