US Foods ships from New Distribution Center in Flowood, Mississippi
Hartland, WI (July 14, 2015) US Foods has opened a 272,000-square-foot distribution center in Flowood that will service 4,000 chefs, restaurants and food-service operators throughout Mississippi and Louisiana, the Rosemont, Ill.-based company said in a release on Monday.
The broadline food distributor, which has 60 such facilities across the country, made its first shipment out of Flowood on June 29 and will have a grand opening this Friday, starting at 10:30am the release said. Attendees will be given a tour of the new building and local chefs will be displaying their creations.
The new facility is pursuing LEED certification and includes a number of green enhancements, such as energy efficient lighting and a cascade refrigeration system that uses CO2 as a refrigeration fluid in place of ammonia, reducing environmental impact and increasing energy efficiency. A dedicated fleet fueling and maintenance area will further help the company operate even more efficiently.
